Industry 4.0 digital technologies are essential for all industrial processes. This course equips new entrants and current electrotechnology industry workers with the required skills, thus increasing their employability.

The course is part of the Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering (fully accredited by Engineers Australia). It was co-developed and is reviewed annually by an advisory group consisting of Industry and SA Universities. The industry members represent important South Australian manufacturing and defence stakeholders: BAE Systems, Redarc, ASC, Minelab, Codan, RFI and Fugro.

Our graduates can find employment in the industry and companies are encouraging their trade qualified employees to upskill by studying this course.

To be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) at $2,500 you must be an Australian or NZ citizen or on a permanent visa. If not fees are $10,625.

Course Admission Requirements

any one of:

  • Certificate III or higher in an Engineering related
  • Completion of a recognised foundation or bridging course
  • Completion of at least six months full-time equivalent in a relevant degree course at a higher education institution
  • SACE completion or equivalent with Year 12 Specialist Mathematics OR Mathematical Methods OR General Mathematics or equivalent with a minimum ATAR of 60
  • Satisfactory achievement in the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with a minimum score of 140

Full Fee

Student Services Fee (SSF) applies. Full-time student $20. Part-time student $10.

Fees vary depending on subjects you enrol into. TAFE SA and their agents reserve the right to make any changes necessary.

    • If you cannot meet the minimum eligibility requirements, you may be able to apply for entry based on disadvantage. Please email admissions@tafesa.edu.au to arrange a pre-admission interview including a literacy and numeracy test. The course coordinator will then determine eligibility.
    • This course is subsidised under the Commonwealth Grant Scheme. Limited Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are available in 2021.
    • To be eligible for a CSP at $2,500 you must reside in Australia for your course AND be an Australian or NZ citizen or on a permanent visa. If you are not eligible fees are $10,625
    • If you are eligible for a subsidy CSP and need assistance to pay for the student contribution amount of $2,500, you may be eligible for a HECS-HELP loan.
    • If you are unable to complete the four subjects by 31 December 2021, the remaining subjects will be charged at the current standard rates. Further study under the Associate Degree award will also be charged at the current standard rates
  • Upfront Payment

    Each semester, fees can be paid online with VISA or Mastercard or at an Australia Post outlet.

    It provides a strong vocational outcome, as well as a pathway to an Associate Degree and then to University. To complete this course you are required to complete all 4 subjects.

    This course aims to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to efficiently use the Industry 4.0 digital technologies. The course covers fundamentals of electronic circuits and sensors, CAD and 3D printing techniques, networking and programming of devices enriched with embedded computing. It is offered in multi-modal delivery, with online lectures and materials complemented by on campus workshop and project activities.
