A guide to the sounds of English for reading and spelling, with a focus on strategies for effective and on-going learning, ‘Sounds Right, Looks Right' is written for anyone wanting to get a better grasp of the English language sound system. The style is non-‘academic' and the examples used generally come from everyday vocabulary. It is designed for English as a second language learners who may need literacy support, in particular students in levels 2 and 3 of the Certificate in Spoken and Written English, or the Certificate in English Proficiency, or equivalent. It may also be useful for secondary school students or adult learners who need support in improving their word-decoding and spelling skills. The book can be used in the classroom, in small groups or one-to-one with a tutor.

Work in Oz - Jobs - Let's Begin Post-Beginner Level

This unit introduces the topic of learners' jobs in their country and the jobs learners would like in Australia. Some work should have been done previously with vocational vocabulary, matching pictures of occupations with words etc. The selection of jobs discussed in this section covers mostly unskilled jobs requiring low levels of English. This includes an audio CD.

Understanding First Aid

Understanding First Aid is a resource pack for First Aid trainers and learners. The resources are designed to supplement existing resources particularly for learners who may have difficulty absorbing the information within the time frame of First Aid training. These resources are not intended to replace training notes used by First Aid training providers. The resources were originally designed to provide additional English language input and a basic understanding of how the body works to support First Aid training for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. However, they are of use for a range of learners including: • Secondary school students • Learners with literacy difficulties • Older learners • Learners with limited schooling.

The Classroom Kit includes 20 copies of the Student Book and the Teacher Pack. The Teacher Pack consists of a game, posters and a CDROM.
