This demonstration is one in a series dealing with the operation and maintenance of GMA welding machines as used in the automotive crash repair industry. As such, it specifically deals with the operation and adjustment of a typical machine used for the butt welding of 1 mm body steel. Specific attention is given to alternative methods of 'tacking,' 'push' and 'pull' welding and determining a suitable amount of penetration for the method of repair.
