Receive and handle retail stock

Hairdressing salons and barber shops regularly order in and receive retail stock as a normal part of business operations. When the stock arrives, it needs to be received, inspected for damage, checked off against the invoice or order form, stored appropriately and then ultimately displayed for retail sale. A receiving bay is the initial resting place for incoming stock. It could be a store room at the back of the premises or a small space provided within the reception area. In a larger business it may be a docking station with platforms. Whatever the situation is, the area where the stock is handled and stored should be clean and well organized; allowing for efficient work practices and minimizing the risk of damage to incoming retail goods and protecting workers from injury.
