A gratitude diary can be a powerful, yet simple, wellbeing activity. It is easy to focus on things that go wrong, and then things we haven’t yet done. Cultivating gratitude is a way to train our brains to think about what went right, and notice the good things as they occur during the day. Use the Gratitude Diary to note down things that went well. We’ve also included some reflection questions that might highlight the good things even further.
TAFE SA created this Gratitude Diary as a resource for our students in the Course in Wellbeing and Resilience (National Course Code: 10271NAT) and our Diploma of Positive Psychology and Wellbeing (National Course Code: 10030NAT), but it is relevant to many educational settings and for personal wellbeing and development.
TAFE SA developed the VIA Strengths Cards to support working with students and clients. The VIA Signature Strengths Inventory was developed by the non-profit VIA Institute on Character (www.viacharacter.org), founded in 2000 by Dr. Martin E.P. Seligman and Dr. Neal H. Mayerson.
The TAFESA VIA Strengths Cards provide a set of 24 cards for the workplace, workshop, client or classroom. Each describes a strength colour-coded to align with one of 6 Virtues. The card material is derived from the original scientific work of Peterson and Seligman - Character Strengths and Virtues: A Handbook and Classification (2004). Boxed Set of 26 Strength Cards.
