To know a plant's taxonomy is to know its disposition and habits, its likes and dislikes, its friend and enemies.  This allows you to select plants most appropriate for any given situation or location as you will be aware of how they grow or how to create optimum growing conditions.

Provide Information on Plants and their Culture

Botany is the scientific study of plants. This unit includes aspects of botany which will be relevant to agriculture, horticulture and conservation and land management.  Botany can be divided into four different areas: Morphology - the study of the external features of plants; Anatomy - the study of the internal features of plants; Physiology - the study of plant processes; Taxonomy - the classification of plants.  This unit concentrates on the morphology of plants, but also covers small sections of anatomy, physiology and taxonomy.
