Description

This presentation is primarily a demonstration of the correct method of removing a thermo bound windscreen and how to use a thermo electric tape kit to replace it. The demonstration includes several alternatives for the removal of the existing bond including finding the electric element and possible power sources, importance of identifying the glass type, removal of all old bonding material, the "kit" components, "priming" the glass and the vehicle body, application of the "tape" and the bonding of the ends, the care required in connecting the electric element, the correct degree of compression of the softened tape and finishing off the seal.

The demonstration covers flame adjustment, tacking methods, torch angles and sequencing. The demonstration concludes with examples and causes of several common faults that may occur during the learning process. These include a degree of penetration, build-up, craters, pin holes and undercutting.
