Reduce a Convex Aluminium Panel by Hot Shrinking

This demonstration assumes that the learner has fundamental skills in the use of an oxyacetylene plant and the process of hot shrinking thin sheet steel. This presentation is the DVD component of a self-paced, competency based, learning package. This demonstration is one in a series dealing with the operation and maintenance of GMA welding machines as used in the automotive crash repair industry. As such, it specifically deals with the operation and adjustment of a typical machine used for the butt welding of 1 mm body steel. Specific attention is given to alternative methods of 'tacking,' 'push' and 'pull' welding and determining a suitable amount of penetration for the method of repair.
