An effective mentor plays a crucial role in motivating a learner, whether a student on placement, a new employee or a current colleague who is expanding their scope. This unit deals with the skills and knowledge required to act as a mentor to other individuals in the industry or workplace. This role is carried out by those with significant workplace experience.

Practise in the Orthopaedic Nursing Environment

Orthopaedic nursing involves caring for clients with disorders of the musculoskeletal system and can range from simple broken bones, to multiple fractures from trauma such a motor vehicle accidents, to chronic bone and joint diseases. Orthopaedic nursing covers the full spectrum of the life span. Contribute to the Care of Mothers and Babies

This unit of competency provides knowledge and skills to assist the midwife in the provision of antenatal, maternity and postnatal nursing care and in the promotion of the wellbeing of the mother and child. Successful completion of this unit enables students to assist the midwife, as required, under supervision and guidance.  Enrolled Nurses must adhere to policies and procedures specific to the state and organisation and work within their scope of practice.
