Employment Services - Strategic planning (Cluster G)

This learner resource represents a cluster of two competencies: • Manage organisational and strategic business planning • Forecast market and business needs. A range of related issues and concepts are discussed, all of which orient towards strategy – planning, anticipating, forecasting and innovating. A cluster approach is used as a way of better organising our thinking (and by extension, the ‘internal architecture’ of this learning resource). By clustering competencies, we are able to present information in a manner that avoids duplication and offers the opportunity for a more holistic assessment process.

Coordinate Risk Management (Community Services)

The focus of risk management has emerged as a result of cases where there has been a failure to identify or respond to risk, resulting in accident or other loss. Risk management is also an essential factor for obtaining insurance. Risk management has become a formalized approach which helps to ensure that workers and organisations are accountable for all activities and responses thereby minimizing the consequences of adverse events. Risk management can also play a role in maximising the results of positive events. This unit of competency covers coordination of risk management in the business unit/organisation. It includes maintaining infrastructure and processes, supporting staff to manage risk, facilitating risk recovery and mentoring and reviewing risk management. At the end of each section there are activities that you will need to complete as part of your assessment. There are also a number of activities that will need to be submitted to your supervisor for assessment.
