Australian Career Development Studies Companion

Australian Career Development Studies (ACDS) is an exciting new initiative developed by DEST. The aim of ACDS is to broaden access to career development learning activities for individuals (of all ages and levels of experience), organisations and those working in the field of career development. The ACDS 2 program is an opportunity to take some of the key concepts and issues in career development and human resources and deepen your understanding through workshop, café-style discussion and directed reading (available as PDF files on Resources CD). ACDS 2 consists of three accredited competencies from the Certificate IV in Career Development.

Manage Volunteers - Volunteer Management

This unit of competency focuses on the skills and knowledge required by workers – staff supervisors, coordinators, managers – to manage volunteers. The orientation of the learning resource is on foundations – building from the ground up, to ensure the success of the volunteer recruitment and retention program. As a first step, we will identify the organisation’s human resources and financial plan – and where (if…) volunteers are ‘located’ within that plan.
