Description

These resources are designed as content-based learning materials focussing on the world of work in Australia. The aim is to introduce learners to real Australian workers and present them with information, personal viewpoints, anecdotes and human interactions thereby allowing them to understand the world of work in Australia while they develop their language skills. Nick explores the world of work through the occupation of a handyman. It also explores everyday household problems from the perspective of a handyman, a house owner and a tenant.  It includes a wide range of spoken and written communication activities as well as numeracy practice. Each guide has a DVD showing Nick at work and procedures relating to his daily work, a CD of audio recordings, worksheets of activities, teachers' notes, Answer Keys and Transcripts of audio recordings. These are available to purchase individually or as a complete pack (including Levels 1, 2 and 3). The complete pack is presented in a plastic moulded box.

Work in Oz - Nella the Childcare Worker

These resources are designed as content-based learning materials focussing on the world of work in Australia. The materials have been developed around photographs and audio-visual recordings of real Australian workers both in their workplaces and in a studio talking about their jobs. In Level one we learn about Nella's job through a PowerPoint story. Level 2 presents video DVD recordings including Nella at work and some procedural texts. Level 3 includes oral presentations, procedures and points of view of Nella, a childcare lecturer and a childcare director describing issues relating to the childcare environment. This is a compilation set including a resource book and appendices as well as a Power Point Data CD and a Audio CD.  Resource Book - This book uses an incremental approach designed for pre-literate and low literacy beginner ESL learners. A guide to the sounds of English for reading and spelling, with a focus on strategies for effective and on-going learning, ‘Sounds Right, Looks Right' is written for anyone wanting to get a better grasp of the English language sound system.
