By the time the student completes this Record Booklet he/she will be able to: describe the process of addition and subtraction, use addition to solve symbol and word problems, discuss and describe various methods of checking feasibility of answers, describe everyday situations where estimation is used, use estimation to solve practical problems, use appropriate maths language and notation, relate differences in experience, maths language and notation to cultural, linguistic, situational and gender background, discuss various ways of expressing addition problems and answers, solve problems expressed using a variety of terminology for all processes.

Everyday Writing 1 is part of the Certificate 1 in Preparatory Education. The Certificate course is made up of many different modules which are designed to develop you reading, writing and numeracy competencies. This module is divided into 8 topics. Topic 1: Writing informal personal letters, is the starting point. When students have completed it they will be asked to select two of the remaining 7 topics to study in detail.
Read, Listen and Write is a collection of stories and exercises based on topical issues that are designed to develop your reading and writing skills. There are nine units that you will be working through with the support of your teacher. Satisfactory completion of the work requirements meet the learning outcomes of the Certificate in Preparatory Education in the modules: Reading and Writing 2 and Reading and Writing 3. This package can be used as part of a lesson on campus or external studies.
