Practise in First Line Emergency Nursing (Advanced Diploma HLT07)

An Enrolled Nurse may encounter an emergency in a variety of settings and situations. This unit will guide students through the process and skill requirements to increase knowledge and the ability to ‘practice in first line emergency nursing’. Students will need to revise their knowledge of anatomy and physiology and have a current resource available as they work through this learning guide. Students will need to assess client’s signs and symptoms, learn to monitor for changes and consider actual and potential problems and/or responses as they occur. The knowledge and skills described in this competency unit are to be applied within jurisdictional nursing and midwifery regulatory authority legislative requirements. Assess Clients and Manage Client Care

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required for the Enrolled Nurse to address the principles of best practice in nursing care delivery, client service and health care teamwork in order to provide holistic nursing care to clients at an advanced level in a variety of health care settings.
Assessment for this topic includes: A) In collaboration with your workplace, complete an analysis of your learning needs for this topic and a detailed learning plan to address the identified needs and evidence of your learning; B) A detailed case study that demonstrates your skills and knowledge of assessing and managing clients at an advanced level; C) Short answer questions and related research that pertains to the case study; D) A third party assessment in the workplace is also required.
