Description

This unit is designed to identify the skills and knowledge required for Enrolled/Division 2 nurses to perform nursing interventions in rural/remote health care settings and to assist clients to maintain or regain optimum functioning and lifestyle. A rural health care setting can be any one of the following - residential aged care facilities, extended care settings, private or public hospitals, community health centres including day care centre, clinics, respite care centres and general practice surgeries.

Practise in First Line Emergency Nursing (Advanced Diploma HLT07)

An Enrolled Nurse may encounter an emergency in a variety of settings and situations. This unit will guide students through the process and skill requirements to increase knowledge and the ability to ‘practice in first line emergency nursing’. Students will need to revise their knowledge of anatomy and physiology and have a current resource available as they work through this learning guide. Students will need to assess client’s signs and symptoms, learn to monitor for changes and consider actual and potential problems and/or responses as they occur. The knowledge and skills described in this competency unit are to be applied within jurisdictional nursing and midwifery regulatory authority legislative requirements. Enrolled nursing work is to be carried out in consultation/collaboration with Registered Nurses and under direct or indirect supervisory arrangements in line with jurisdictional regulatory requirements.
