A step by step explanation of the theory and practice of edge relieving in thin sheet mild steel.  Starting with an "oil-canning" piece of steel we are introduced to the concept of stretching the material in the appropriate places by hammering.  Flattening out by means of a flat faced wooden mallet is then followed by plenishing with a steel plenishing hammer.
